Evangelism and Prayer

               .....Introductory Thoughts

Two of the "bread and butter" activities for any Christian are evangelism and prayer. God says of His people, that they are to be a "house of prayer for all nations". He also says that His heart is that "none should perish". Both prayer and evangelism stand alone as imperative works of God's people, yet they each have a unique potential to fuel the other. Evangelism without prayer will generally bear little fruit.  Conversely, prayer without an evangelistic focus and goal can lead to an out of balance introspective habit. Through prayer we gain the heart of God. God's heart burns for the salvation of the lost. Every Christian who gives him or herself to prayer will eventually see a passion for the lost fill his or her soul. A passion for His presence will indeed birth for people.

Servant Evangelism-SE
Jesus said, "The greatest among you is the servant". SE is simply demonstrating the kindness of God by offering to do some act of humble service with no strings attached. (John 13:35) = Deeds of love + words of love + adequate time. God has chosen to communicate his love through people, and free acts of service can open the channels of communication that words of love can be spoken. Several times a year people of Open Door Vineyard hit the streets to serve the people of
Spanaway and the surrounding areas. Taking part in a soda give away, free car wash and other servant-oriented projects is a real blast. You'll love seeing people's response to your gracious acts of kindness. We are softening hearts of people all over our area as we show the love of Jesus in these practical ways. Come join the fun at our next servant evangelism project! Do it as a Home Group.

Prophetic Power Evangelism-                                            Everyday we come in contact with hundreds of people who do not know the love of God. Too often our efforts to reach out to them are received as a turn-off. Imagine the possibilities if we could hear and speak the things that are on God's heart for individuals in the marketplace. We are finding that people are really open to hearing from God!

We are adopting the method Doug Addison has developed a simple step-by-step process for learning to hear the voice of God for others and communicating what we hear in a way that can be understood by those without a religious background. Relevant Evangelism

Evangelism Training-                                                             We believe that evangelism is more caught than taught; however we do teach it in our 400 level training classes so check it out. Better yet hook up with someone who is doing it.
